Light in dialogue with the past
Custom lighting for a pharmacy in a historic building
For this pharmacy in Leuven, we developed a lighting concept that connects the contemporary interior with the character of the existing building. The high ceilings, moldings, and stained-glass windows remain emphatically present, which was a conscious choice for us: the lighting was allowed to add a new, sleek layer to the architecture without overpowering the building’s history.
Custom graphic lighting structures
The large geometric lighting structures were therefore completely custom-made in our own workshop, instead of being chosen from an existing catalog. Their slender black profiles stand out in the space and follow their own play of lines, without competing with the surrounding historic architecture.
Integrated diffuse light provides even basic lighting, while adjustable spots give extra accent to specific zones and products.
“Historic architecture deserves light that plays along, not light that overpowers.”

One fixture, three functions
In this way, one fixture fulfills several functions at once: sufficient functional light where needed, support for product presentation, and a strong architectural element in the room.
The result is a bright and contemporary interior in which historic architecture, custom lighting, and lighting design reinforce each other instead of competing.
